Mur des “Je t’aime”

Located at the Square Jehan-Rictus in Montmarte, this wall of love is one of the most iconic landmarks in all of Paris.

The wall was designed by French artist Frédéric Baron and his friend Claire Kito in 2000. The idea behind it was to create a public art project that would bring people together through expressions of love. To achieve this mission, they covered the entire surface with 612 tiles painted with “I Love You” written 311 times in 250 different languages and dialects from around the world – including Braille for those who are visually impaired.

This unique monument has become an international symbol of romance and is one of the most photographed spots in all of Paris. It attracts couples from all over, who come to express their feelings for each other or simply marvel at its beauty. Tourists also flock here to take pictures as a memento to take home with them, as well as write down their own special messages on some blank tiles that have been left free for visitors to do so.

While visiting Mur des “Je t’aime,” don’t forget to check out its surroundings too. There are plenty more attractions nearby such as Sacré Coeur Basilica which offers breathtaking views across Paris or Place du Tertre where you can find many talented street artists selling their work – perfect if you’re looking for something truly unique.
