The history behind Petit-Champlain dates back to 1608 when Samuel de Champlain founded Québec City on this very spot. As such, it has been an integral part of Quebec’s culture for centuries. The cobblestone streets are lined with old stone buildings that have stood since colonial times and offer a glimpse into what life was like during those days. Many merchants still operate out of these same structures today selling everything from handmade souvenirs to local delicacies like sugar pies or tourtière (a traditional meat pie).
